Allowing two extra teams into the postseason in both the American and National Leagues added some excitement to a condensed 60-game regular season. Now we’re down to the final two teams.

MLB Playoffs odds: World Series
Bettors have the option of wagering on the overall result of a series, or the entire postseason by backing a World Series champion. These are called futures bets and they can be placed during the preseason, regular season, or during the postseason.

How the MLB playoffs work
The three division champions were assigned seeds 1-3 based on records. Seeds 4-6 went to the No. 2 teams in each division and were ordered by records. Seeds 7 and 8 went to the teams with the next-best records, regardless of division or overall standings.
Instead of the usual sudden-death, single-game Wild Card play-in, all eight teams played a best-of-three Wild Card Series, with all three games played at the home of the higher-seeded team (i.e. No. 1 seed hosts No. 8, No. 2 hosts No. 7, and so on.).

The Division Series was a best-of-five. One ALDS was played at Petco Park in San Diego (the 1-8 vs. 4-5 matchup), while the other was played at Dodger Stadium in LA (2-7 vs. 3-6 matchup). As for the NLDS, the 1-8 vs. 4-5 matchup was played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas while the 2-7 vs. 3-6 showdown took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
